MIDE is a cutting edge, tech-driven museum which presents economics and financial education to a broad public in a lively, engaging way. It is very popular with younger people, and makes use of the new tools, languages and technologies that engage a younger audience. The museum is housed in a landmarked 18th century building, which challenged me to develop an innovative design approach to the interaction of space, color, materials and new technologies, within very strict conservation limitations, to turn finance and economics themed content into fresh interactive spaces.
MIDE also works as a design studio with a wide range of outside projects: my job there involved working on these external projects in addition to my in-house role coordinating 3D design, graphic design, production, fabrication, installation and maintenance teams.
MIDE, Mead Johnson, Interactive gallery.
Experience and exhibition design, development, production and on-site supervision.
Baby formula manufacturer Mead Johnson wanted a permanent exhibition area in their facilities to communicate their values and work processes to a scientists, pediatricians, potential clients and employees. We developed a comprehensive and engaging visitor center with interactive and immersive experiences.
The first iteration of the project for Mexico City’s R&D facilities, and because of its success we were asked to design a version for Mead Johnson’s new Singapore R&D facility, as well as its on-site production plant. For Singapore, all materials and furniture were fabricated in Mexico City, then installed by a full team that traveled from Mexico and graphics were printed and installed with a local Singapore vendor, all under my supervision. Hardware was sourced in China and all interactive displays were integrated on site.

Museo Interactivo de Economía, Mead Johnson.
Head of exhibition design and production
After the successful Nutrition Interactive gallery experience, Mead Johnson wanted to expand the project to it’s Supply Centers, looking to strengthen and communicate to staff and visitors the company’s ethos and processes. It became a very comprehensive and detailed branding project for various of their US and Netherlands facilities.
Production wise it required to source local vendors to produce and install graphic materials that would comply with high sanitary, hygiene and safety standards due to the strict requirements of each supply center plant. Installation had to be carefully planned and executed so it would not interfere with the 24 hour continuous work at the plants.
I designed the layout working closely with content developers. I lead work and daily communication with the clients, facility supervisors, safety officials, vendors and installers. I traveled to sites to scout, define project parameters, meet with clients, plan and supervise execution and installation.

A multimedia experience mapped to highlight Mexico’s involvement in the export and import industries by state. A multitouch object recognition table presents accesible and fun information to promote conversation. It also triggers videos that are projected on a screen surface made out of cut-out sections, each in the shape of a different Mexican state and all of it enclosed in a shipping container box into which visitors have to step in to interact with the exhibition.
